By Plain:

There is no international airline flights available close to the city of Golestan, so you need to take a flight into one of the International Airports, then take a local flight to Golestan.

The best option is:

  • Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA)

When to Visit

Golestan is a green scenery with fresh air to breath and natural landscapes to have picturesque views such as Alangdareh Park or NaharKhoran forests, also Gorgan (Center of Golestan) is a land of history by embracing architectural masterpieces, so all seasons amaze you with their beauties but it’s highly recommended to experience spring since the middle of March to the end of April and autumn since the end of September to the beginning of November.

How to Visit

Take one full-day walking tour to experience the local lifestyle of Turkmen and Golestani people in long-aged areas close to Gorgan Bazaar, also make visits of traditional houses which are clear examples of natives’ costumes and traditions in the region, but plan two days excursions to Gonbad Kavus county near to Golestan National Park to explore, not only Torkaman lifestyle and distinctive architecture, but also visiting dazzling nature of Hyrcanian forests by having a short drive.
