Qazvin, a city with 9000 years of civilization, where is located on the way of Silk Road, proves its significance to be announced as the capital of the country in different periods. Alamut Castle is the prominent legacy of the city besides Sa’d al-Saltaneh Carevanserai which is the biggest urban Caravanserai in Iran.

Sa’d al-Saltaneh Caravanserai is the largest urban one in its kind. The architecture consists of Iwan, Hojre (Travelers room), Dome and courtyards to provide a relaxing atmosphere for travellers and traders.

Chehel Sotun Pavillon is built during the reign of Shah Tahmasp Safavid as a royal palace at the centre of the city when he announced Qazvin as the capital of Iran. The building was reconstructed during the Qajar Dynasty and now is used as Calligraphy museum.

Qajar Bathhouse, a famous kind of Persian bath which depicts the culture of gathering and bathing during the Safavid Dynasty, which is renovated in the Qajar era.

Aminiha Hosseiniyeh, a sacred place with a fabulous decoration of paintings, colourful windows and gorgeous plaster and mirror work in celling, built by a merchant, whose name was Amini, during Qajar era.

How to Get There

By Plain:

There is no international airline flights available close to the city of Qazvin, so you need to take a flight into one of the International Airports, then take a drive to Qazvin.

The best option is:

  • Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA), 189 km To Qazvin.

When to Visit

Qazvin is located alongside of Alborz Mountain Range and close to the Caspian Sea, so the most pleasant time to have a visit of the city is at the beginning of March to the end of June and the beginning of September to the end of November because the climate is marked by the moderate temperature.

How to Visit

Qazvin is a city of distinctive architectural masterpieces and diverse religions as a reason of long history, so take a walking trip at the city centre to explore most of Qazvin glories, also taking an excursion to Alamut Castle to become amazed by the nature and the fascination of the structure would be a highly recommended experience.
